As the owner of Custom Cakes & Confections, Jennifer Hirschhorn is trying to make Northern Virginia a sweeter place one cookie at a time. After a health scare several years ago, Jennifer reevaluated her “corporate” life and decided she really wanted to do something she liked and really enjoyed. Having baked for friends and family for years, those same people encouraged her to follow her dream, and with all their love and support, Custom Cakes & Confections was born in March of 2006.

All the creations made at Custom Cakes & Confections are made to order with the freshest ingredients possible. Some specialties are iced shortbread cookies in a multitude of shapes and sizes, strawberry cake with fresh strawberry filling and strawberry frosting, and chocolate brownie cheesecake. Egg or dairy free options are also available for many items.

Amanda Smith, Professional Bridal Consultant and owner of White Pumpkin LLC, graduated from The Art Institure of Pittsburgh with a degree in Visual Communications. After years of designing on paper she decided to take her creativity to a new medium.

“I find wedding planning to be very similar to graphic design. There is a budget, a deadline, and a “brand” for each couple.”

Amanda’s favorite part of planning a wedding is putting all the little details tog ether to form one picture perfect wedding.
